Join IU Outdoor Adventures when the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings the spirit of outdoor adventure back to an in person audience in Bloomington! The film festival will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 7pm and Sunday, March 20th at 5pm.

Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world! Hot on the heels of the Festival that is held every fall in beautiful Banff, Alberta, the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour hits the road. With stops planned in roughly 550 communities and more than 40 countries across the globe, the Banff World Tour celebrates amazing achievements in outdoor storytelling and filmmaking worldwide!

From the over 400 entries submitted into the Festival each year, award-winners and audience favorites are among the films that are carefully selected to play in theatres around the world. 

Traveling to remote vistas, analyzing topical environmental issues, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports the 2021/2022 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world.

The films for the two Bloomington screenings are different each night, and will be announced in the spring at www.outdoors.indiana.edu.  Saturday show – 7pm (doors open at 6:30), Sunday show – 5pm (doors open at 4:30).  Raffle prize draws at intermission!!

This event is general admission. The estimated length of the show is 3 hours. Films may include graphic content. Wearing a mask is required indoors in Monroe County. Vaccine verification or negative covid test results within 48 hours required to enter the venue. COVID Policy FAQ.

Owned by the City of Bloomington, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater is operated by BCT Management, Inc., a private non-profit organization. This theater, located one block east of the Courthouse Square, seats 600 with an orchestra level and a balcony. Concessions and items purchased from BLU Boy Cafe may be taken into the auditorium.

Restrooms, concessions, the box office, and the orchestra-level seats are all wheelchair accessible. Special seats are reserved for those using wheelchairs, which can be purchased via the box office at 812.323.3020. Street, lot, and garage parking is available across downtown Bloomington.
