Description

Celebrating 60 years of preparing, empowering, and supporting people with developmental disabilities, Stone Belt Arc presents “Belt Out Loud!,” a benefit concert featuring The Dynamics and King Bee & The Stingers. The concert is sponsored by IU Credit Union.

VIP Tickets include up front seating and a post-concert VIP event, supported by Upland Brewing Company, to be held in the orchestra pit. Enjoy a meet-and-greet event with the bands, plus drinks and appetizers.

The Dynamics are an award winning, R&B group doing classics by such artists as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, the Neville Brothers, and Parliament/Funkadelics. To that mix, they also add current (and-soon-to-be classic) R&B flavored songs by such artist as Santana, Prince, The Dave Matthews Band, and others.  The band also includes a mixture of tasty originals, and Classic Covers from their October 1996 debut CD release, “Make That Change“, their LIVE CD release, “Doin’ It…LIVE!!!” released September 2000, as well as material from their latest CD release, “You Ain’t Got To Go Home”, which includes both live and studio recorded materials.

The Dynamics have been together over 30 years, and in that time the band has opened for, and shared the stage with many national and regional acts, such as: George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars; Tower of Power; Buckwheat Zydeco; Blues legend Charles Brown; The Jeff Healy Band; Ron Hey; Larry Crane (formerly with John Mellencamp); and Henry Lee Summer. The Dynamics are also veterans of many of the Midwest biggest festivals, performing before audiences of hundreds, and making repeat appearances at such festivals as Hornucopia in Rock Island, IL; Rally-in-the-Square in Lima, OH; W.C. Handy Blues Festival in Henderson, KY; and their hometown annual festival, Taste of Bloomington where they are a popular mainstay, as well as several smaller Midwest festivals over the years.

The Dynamics were recognized nationally in 1990 as winners of the National W.C. Handy Blues contest held annually in Memphis, Tennessee, after winning local and state talent contest. That same year, they also were the recipients of the B. B. King Lucille award as “Best New Talent” for their showcase performance at the National Blues Award concert. In 1992 they won a spot on the annual “Live From Bloomington” CD release with their original song “Make That Change” competing with dozens of other bands, and were voted “Most Popular Local Band” in the Bloomington Herald-Telephone readers’ poll.

The Dynamics have been playing funk, R&B and blues since they formed in the late 1980s. This eight-piece band features a strong lead vocalist, three horns, and a full rhythm section of bass, drums, keyboards, and guitar. Members hail from near and far, from Indiana and Kentucky to New Orleans and West Virginia.

Bloomington’s own King Bee & The Stingers will launch the concert. King Bee & The Stingers were founded in 2006 and influenced by the works of Big Momma Thornton, Sonny Boy Williamson, Beth Hart, Howlin’ Wolf, BB King, Lester Butler, STAXX, and Steve Cropper. The band has played at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, where they were semifinalists in 2018 and 2019.
