Love Is Listening: Dementia Without Loneliness will open your heart to a new way of being with people with dementia- a way that turns awkward to flow, isolation to intimacy, and loneliness to companionship. Although 70% of us know someone with dementia, many still struggle to connect with those in this condition. This documentary begins a journey from fear to presence.
The screening of Memory Bridge’s new documentary is made possible by the joint contributions of Memory Bridge, IU Health, and Dementia Friendly Communities Indiana. These organizations share a commitment to ending the emotional and social isolation of people with dementia.
Memory Bridge is a nonprofit organization that brings together students and elders with dementia. Micheal Verde, an award-winning writer, speaker, and teacher who founded the organization in 2003, will speak after the 6:30pm screening.
Art created by residents of Bloomington will be displayed in the lobby of the theater before and after each screening. Additional art will be displayed at the Monroe County History Center and the Monroe County Public Library.
Doors will open one hour in advance of this general admission show.
