Comprised of outstanding musicians from Mexico, ÓNIX Ensamble has achieved world-wide recognition as a leading champion of contemporary music. The group has premiered nearly two hundred compositions and recorded eleven albums in their two decades of existence. ÓNIX Ensamble joins Indiana University’s New Music Ensemble for an evening of unforgettable performances celebrating composers of Mexico, from 20th-century master Silvestre Revueltas to present-day luminaries Gabriela Ortíz and Carlos Sánchez-Gutierrez, who will be in attendance.
In partnership with the IU Jacobs School of Music’s Latin American Music Center, this event is part of the IU Arts and Humanities Council’s 2019 Global Arts and Humanities Festival Mexico Remixed.
Doors will open at 7pm for this general admission event. The event is expected to last about 2 hours.

Owned by the City of Bloomington, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater is operated by BCT Management, Inc., a private non-profit organization. This theater, located one block east of the Courthouse Square, seats 600 with an orchestra level and a balcony. Concessions and items purchased from BLU Boy Cafe may be taken into the auditorium.
Restrooms, concessions, the box office, and the orchestra-level seats are all wheelchair accessible. Special seats are reserved for those using wheelchairs, which can be purchased via the box office at 812.323.3020. Street, lot, and garage parking is available across downtown Bloomington.
