Shimmy Con belly dancer photoShimmy Con will be the first belly dance event of its kind in Indiana. Consisting of 30 workshops, 8 lectures, 2 panel discussions, 2 performances, and a keynote address, Shimmy Con will give dancers in the Midwest a place to come together and share a wonderful art form in a supportive, fun, and professional atmosphere. You will have the opportunity to learn, share, grow, be inspired, evolve, meet new people, and create new friends.

The journey of the belly dancer is wide and complex. Be inspired and enjoy the dance that you can move to for your entire life. Come to Shimmy Con and experience everything that shimmies.

SPECTACULAR SHIMMIES
Two Spectacular Shimmies performances and the Friday keynote address will be held at the lovely Buskirk-Chumley Theater, just a few blocks away from the convention center. Friday’s performance, July 7 at 8:30pm, will showcase performers from Indiana and surrounding states. The Saturday performance, July 8 at 8:30pm, will showcase performances by instructors and speakers of the conference.

Since it was built in 1923 as a Model T assembly plant and showroom, the Monroe Convention Center has evolved into a space where the modern meets the historical. Centrally located in the heart of downtown Bloomington, the center employs a professional event planning staff and features a varied collection of works by local artists on permanent display. The center is fully accessible and parking is plentiful in adjacent lots.
