Stray dogs abroad, adventure dogs in sidecars, dogs winning prizes, dogs in prison, senior dogs, dogs who make you laugh, and dogs at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The NY Dog Film Festival™ is coming to Bloomington on Sunday, Sept 22nd! A portion of every ticket benefits the Monroe County Humane Association. Well-mannered, well-dressed dogs who appreciate good films are invited to attend. (But if you plan on coming with your dog, please read the fine print below.)

The festival consists of two different 60-75 minute programs of documentary, animated, and narrative films and is curated by Tracie Hotchner, nationally acclaimed pet wellness advocate, author, and host of NPR show Dog Talk. These are not “Dogs Gone Wild” internet videos that have gone viral. Rather, they are collections of inspiring, educational, and amusing short films from around the world exploring the special relationship between wise dogs and their all-too-human companions.

There’s more to wag your tails about: as a special treat, we will also be screening the 1955 animated Disney film, Lady and the Tramp, the story of a pampered cocker spaniel named Lady, living in a charming Midwestern town, who finds herself on the loose and out on the street where she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt Tramp.

(Children 10 and under are free.)

Doors open 30 minutes before each screening.

Here’s our schedule:
2pm: Lady and the Tramp (1955) 1 hr, 15 min
4pm: Dog Fest Program 1 1 hr, 16 min
6pm: Dog Fest Program 2 1 hr, 13 min

Also presented by the Ryder on September 22 at the BCT.
8pm:  Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am. A new film about the beloved writer.
An All-Day Pass will cover admission to all four films.

STAY TUNED FOR THE NY CAT FILM FESTIVAL OCT 20th at the BCT

FINE PRINT FOR DOGGOS – Well-mannered, well-dressed dogs who appreciate good films are welcome at the two programs of shorts and Lady and the Tramp. Dogs must be spayed/neutered and owners must show written proof of a rabies vaccination within the past year. Rabies tags are not sufficient documentation; paperwork from your vet is required. All dogs must be kept on a short leash (no retractable leashes) for the entire event. We reserve the right to ask owners to remove dogs with behavioral problems and the right to ask dogs to remove owners who are unable to follow the safety rules. Woof!
